If your community has a tablet intercom at the entrance, visitors can look you up by name and place a call to you. Every active resident is listed automatically, so your name is in that directory unless you turn it off — or your community has chosen to manage the list itself.
Turn your listing off (or back on)
- On the web at app.maximum.community, open Settings from the menu.
- Stay on the Notification Settings tab and scroll to the bottom to Gate directory listing. The hint under it reads “Visitors can find your name on the entrance intercom and call you.”
- Flip the switch. The change takes effect straight away — there is no separate save step.
The switch affects only your own listing. It does not change anyone else at your address, and it does not stop a guest with a pass, a PIN, or a guard-assisted entry from reaching you.
Why the switch is greyed out
When you cannot change the switch, the hint reads “Managed by your community office.” There are two reasons this happens:
- Your community manages the directory as an office roster. Residents cannot change their own listing at all. If a change is attempted anyway, the app replies “Directory changes are managed by your community office”.
- Your individual listing has been locked by your community. An attempt to change it replies “Your directory listing is managed by the community”.
In either case, contact your office and ask them to list or unlist you.
Good to know
- The intercom directory only returns residents who are both active and listed, so removing yourself is immediate.
- Opting out only hides your name from the self-service search. Guests you invite, and guards, can still reach you the usual ways.
- This control is on the web. The iPhone app does not have a directory switch.
