How does my Do Not Allow list work, and what happens if that person shows up?

Your per-unit deny list flags a person or plate to security and opens an incident when a guard checks them in — here is what it covers and what it does not.

Last updated

Your Do Not Allow list is a private list of people and license plates you never want admitted to your home. Security is told to turn them away, and the system flags them the moment they try. Here is what it covers and what actually happens at the gate.

Add someone to the list

  • In the app: open the Visitors tab, choose the Denied filter, and tap Deny a visitor. Enter the Visitor name, optionally a Plate number, and a Reason (optional), then tap Add to list.
  • On the web: go to Do Not Allow and tap Add entry. Provide a Name, a License plate, or both, plus a Reason (optional).

The reason is context for security; it is stored with the entry and shown to the guard, not to the visitor.

What happens if they show up

  • At a staffed gate: when the guard checks the person in, the visit is flagged as denied and an incident is opened for security automatically. Names match when every word of the shorter name appears in the longer one, so “John Smith” catches “John A. Smith”; a plate is matched exactly.
  • At a gate with a camera: the camera checks every plate against security's community-wide lists, and against your list too. If a plate on your list arrives with a valid pass for your unit, or is a vehicle registered to your unit, the gate does not open automatically: the guard is alerted and a denied-entry incident is recorded. A plate on your list is not a pass, so it never opens the gate on its own. If that person still holds a live pass from you, deactivate it as well.
  • The visit appears as Denied in your visit history on the web.

Scope

Your list only applies to visitors arriving for your unit. It does not stop that person visiting a neighbour who invited them. Security also keeps a community-wide list of its own, which applies to everyone.

Remove someone

Entries can be removed at any time: in the app, use Remove from list on the entry under Denied; on the web, use the delete button beside the entry. Removal takes effect immediately.

Good to know

  • A plate entry catches a car even if the driver gives a different name; a name entry catches the person even in a different car. Add both when you can.
  • Adding someone to the list does not cancel a pass you already sent them. Deactivate the pass as well.
