If the app won't open, is stuck on an old screen, or you've been told to update it, this is almost always quick to fix. The good news first: the web app updates itself. There's no "update" button to hunt for and no "new version available" prompt — when you reload or reopen it, it quietly loads the latest version. So most "I need to update" situations are solved by a reload.
If it won't load, try these in order
- Check your connection. With no internet, the app shows a simple offline page. Reconnect to Wi-Fi or data and reload.
- Reload. Refresh the page, or — if you added the app to your home screen — fully close it and reopen it. This alone clears most stuck screens and pulls the newest version.
- Force the latest version. Do a hard refresh in your browser, or close the home-screen app completely (swipe it away) and open it again.
- Reinstall as a last resort. Rarely needed, but if a home-screen app stays broken, remove it from your home screen and add it again from the website. You won't lose anything — your account lives on the server, not on the app.
If you installed it from an app store
If you use the phone app from the App Store or Google Play rather than the website, update it there like any other app. For which platforms are supported, see "Is Maximum.Community available on Android, and does it cost me anything?"
Still won't load on a good connection?
If you have a solid connection and a reload doesn't help, the cause is usually not your device:
- It may be a brief service interruption — wait a few minutes and try again.
- Your community's service may be paused, which stops the app for everyone at once. You'd see a message asking you to contact your community office — see "Why did my access suddenly stop working?"
Loads, but you can't sign in?
That's a different problem from the app not loading. If the app opens but rejects your sign-in, see "How do I change or reset my password?", and if repeated attempts have blocked you, see "I'm locked out after too many login attempts."
