Why did a delivery or service pass stop opening the gate after one entry?

Delivery and Service passes are single-entry by design: the camera spends that entry on the first read, so a repeat vendor needs a recurring pass.

Delivery and Service passes are single-entry by design: the plate opens the gate once, and never again on that pass. A driver or vendor who comes back on the same pass will be refused, and the app marks the pass Used. Here is why, and what to send instead.

One-time kinds

When you create a one-time invite in the app you pick Guest, Delivery, or Service. On the web, Delivery, Service Provider, and Contractor all count as delivery or service visits; Guest, Realtor, and Other are ordinary guests. Delivery and service visitors are given a single plate entry the moment the invite is created. Guests and recurring visitors have no plate cap.

How the entry is spent

  • When the gate camera reads the plate and opens for it, that counts as the one entry. The pass is not deleted; it stays in your list, and the gate log records the plate as known with its entries used up, rather than as an unknown car.
  • The invite form says it plainly: “The gate opens by plate only while this pass is active. A used one-time pass no longer opens the gate.”
  • The QR pass link has its own, separate budget, which also defaults to a single use.

What to send a repeat vendor

A vendor who comes every week belongs on a Recurring pass, which has no plate cap and works inside the weekly windows you set. For a vendor coming back once, send a new one-time pass.

Plates need a state

Whenever you enter a plate, you must also pick its state. The camera does not read the state, so a New York and a New Jersey plate with the same characters can only be told apart by what you type. If two live passes share the same plate number, the gate cannot pick one: it does not open, and the guard is alerted to sort it out.

Good to know

  • Opening by plate only happens at gates your community has set up for it; elsewhere the guard checks the visitor in by name or by scanning the pass.
  • In the app, a visitor whose plate entry is spent shows a Used badge alongside the pass status.
