It is not a broken pass. Two different rules make a pass work exactly once, and they catch people the same way: the first trip goes smoothly, and the return trip is refused.
Rule 1: Delivery and Service passes are one-entry by design
When you invite someone as a Delivery or Service visitor (on the web, Contractor counts as Service) and give their licence plate, the gate camera opens for that plate once. The moment it opens, the entry is spent — a rideshare plate opens on the way in and never again. A Guest pass has no such cap on plate entries. The rule exists because a one-time visit should be one-time; the landscaper who comes every week should have a recurring pass, which has no cap.
The used-up pass stays on your list as Pending with its entry spent, so the guard's log shows a known pass that is exhausted rather than an unknown car.
Rule 2: passes made from Invite on the web are single-scan
A pass created from Invite on the web at app.maximum.community is a One-time pass: it scans once, and it is valid for 24 hours unless you set a window. That applies to every visitor type, including guests. If you need more scans on the web, create the pass from QR codes instead, where you can set Max Uses when you create it.
What to do for a return trip
- Same driver coming back today? Send a fresh pass — it takes a few seconds. For a plate that needs to open more than once, invite them as a Guest rather than Delivery or Service.
- QR pass out of scans? In the app, open the Visitors tab, tap ⋯ on the pass, choose Edit pass and raise Entries allowed or switch on Unlimited entries. The guest's existing link keeps working.
- Someone who comes every week? Use a Recurring invite with a weekly schedule.
Good to know
- If the pass has arrival and departure times, the plate only opens the gate between them. Outside that window the guard has to let the driver in.
- The state is required whenever you enter a plate, because the camera cannot tell a New York ABC1234 from a New Jersey one. If two live passes share a plate number, the gate opens for neither and alerts the guard instead.
